Dr. Gillaspie is a true Texan. Born and raised in South Houston, attending Bellaire High School, graduating from Baylor University with a degree in Mathematics, and then attending Medical School at the University of Texas at the Health Science Center San Antonio.
She completed her Adult Psychiatry residency in San Antonio prior to starting her Child Psychiatry fellowship training at the University of Texas Southwestern in Austin. This diverse training background provided exposure to both academic hospital systems and private sector hospital systems allowing for extensive exposure to an array of psychiatric illness in different populations.
After completing 9 years of psychiatric training, Dr. Gillaspie spent 5 years working in community psychiatry in South Austin, building a child psychiatry program in a much needed area of town. While Austin was an amazing adventure, family brought her back to her native Houston to start her own family. Joining a thriving medical practice in Bellaire broadened her exposure and she pursued a third board certification in Addiction medicine.
All of these years of training and preparation went into developing her current private practice – a collaborative based approach to the doctor-patient relationship, founded on listening and exploring an individualized treatment plan, utilizing years of extensive pharmacology training combined with a focus on wellness and a wrap around care. Dr. Gillaspie thrives on the variety that being triple boarded in Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine affords her practice.
Dr. Gillaspie lives nearby in the energy corridor, is married to her best friend from high school, and is the proud mommy of 2 energetic, rambunctious boys and a new little lady to round out their Trifecta! All of her free time (haha! 3 young kids? Right!) is spent crafting, being outside, and spending time with her family.
